Going Local: Leveraging Hyper-Local Price Optimization to Deliver Right Products at the Right Prices

When Ahold USA decided to implement Revionics Price Optimization, the organization took the opportunity to re-align the pricing team structure from a centralized unit to independent teams aligned with each of Ahold USA’s four banners. At Giant Martins, Dave and his team have taken the opportunity to leverage underlying data for the optimization that uncovers demand signals very specific to Giant Martins’ customers, enabling hyper-local decision-making. They are seeing compelling benefits from the locally focused model in terms of being more responsive to evolving market and customer behaviors and being able to focus on the right products at the right prices. Dave will spotlight an interesting example of substantial innovation in the fresh category – an inherently challenging but ultimately rewarding area for price optimization.
